Tomorrow’s Yesterday
In "Tomorrow's Yesterday (A Letter Never Read)," I paint a moving tableau of time and self-discovery, reminiscent of a heartfelt letter never seen by my younger self. The majority of my paintings are bathed in desaturated tones, casting a monochromatic evening ambiance that invokes a sense of melancholy.
But here powerful transformation unfolds as vibrant and lively colors breathe life into the canvas, igniting a palette capable of exciting a child's heart. This shift is deliberate, designed to provide solace and an embrace to my younger, insecure self—a child who once lacked self-belief and self-identity, adrift in the current of each passing day. As an adult, I've grown across various aspects of life, acquiring self-knowledge and self-worth. Through this painting, I extend a message to my younger self, assuring that it's perfectly alright not to know how to read or how to write, to experience confusion.
The message carries the promise of a radiant future, a beacon of hope. The painting features numerous figures adorned in the robe of love and family values, symbolizing the profound evolution that time has brought. These collective figures represent a fusion of my past and present selves, their spirits enduring and unaltered. Tomorrow, vividly portrayed in this vibrant artwork, holds beauty and promise for all.
The backdrop incorporates the environment of my upbringing, serving as a canvas to narrate a tale of consolation and warmth. In the upper right corner, a young me gazes toward the uncertain future, encapsulating the essence of this poignant dialogue between past and present.
