Mitchell Biggio

Mitchell Biggio’s work features landscape and architectural elements to depict shifting topographic moments where memory and emotion are solidified into shape and line. In this abstraction, they aim to formulate a visual vocabulary to create and explore narratives through form. The resulting work encourages engagement by revealing value, light, and shadow based on the interaction with the viewer.

“I have always been interested in the moment a shift occurs and how that event relates to the timescales we project. In the major life change of becoming a father, I have started to think and experience the scale of time in a completely different way. This has led to an interest in creating work that depicts a sense of instantaneous upheaval in which form and line change based on the exchange with the viewer.

Artifacts are items and ideals that reinforce what we see as significant in a moment in time.” - Mitchell Biggio
