“As the marchers tried to get away from the troopers, they were attacked by more of Sheriff Clark’s men. The mob also attacked cameramen and reporters, but they couldn’t stop them from reporting the violence. The pictures and television broadcasts of state troopers and policemen beating defenseless people brought the country face-to-face with the riot that would soon be known as Bloody Sunday.”
